Roads for Life becomes a member of WHO General Assembly Zeina Kassem: International trend to support Lebanon in providing speedy and efficient trauma care

In May 2015 the Global Alliance for Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma, and Anesthesia Care (The G4 Alliance) has been launched with a board of member organizations in Geneva, taking as base the WHO resolution 68/31 on "Strengthening emergency and essential surgical care and anesthesia as a component of universal health coverage".

Roads for Life has been a proud founding member of the G4 Alliance, among 2 federations, 6 colleges, 8 academia and 29 NGOs.

Following her intervention in the inaugural meeting held in Geneva, Roads for Life President Zeina Kassem revealed that the international community is inclined to support Lebanon “in providing speedy and efficient trauma medical care.”

The G4 Alliance is an advocacy-based organization dedicated to:

  • Building political priority for surgical care as part of the global development agenda.
  • o
  • Increasing the access to safe, essential and timely surgical, obstetric, trauma and anesthesia care for any neglected surgical patient.


Roads for life and the G4 Alliance strive for significant improvements in surgical care and anesthesia, which save lives and prevent life-long disability or life-threatening complications that can be sustainably and affordably integrated within existing health systems.
