Advanced Trauma Life Support®
ATLS for Doctors
The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and its Committee on Trauma (COT) have developed the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®) Program for doctors. ATLS® is a systematic, concise training for the early care of trauma patients.
The ATLS® program provides participants with a safe, reliable and standardized method for immediate management of the injured patient, assuring that optimum care is provided and that the level of care does not deteriorate at any point during the evaluation, resuscitation, or transfer process. In November 2010, AUBMC promulgated the ATLS® Program under the auspices of the American College of Surgeons Lebanon Chapter.
Roads For Life – the Talal Kassem Fund for Post Accident Care, as of October 2011, promoted and sponsored training courses to 600 doctors in emergency units in more than 90 Lebanese hospitals all over the country, private and public, so that they became certified ATLS® providers.
As of 2019, Roads for Life has trained over 600 doctors across Lebanon.
